DO THIS:

The rules:
1. Delve into your blog archive.
2. Find your 23rd post (or closest to).
3. Find the fifth sentence (or closest to).
4. Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions. Ponder it for meaning, subtext or hidden agendas…
5. Tag five people to do the same.

My 23rd post was about the irony of my son's football team's mascot being the cardinals and playing a catholic team:

"I instantly laughed and thought of a great t-shirt design that I'm sure would NOT be school sanctioned."

I guess I am a jovial person who is very visual and enjoys good design. I would like for those around me to be happy, so I share my laughter, maybe too broadly, possibly with people who don't care or want to laugh. I am also overly concerned about authority and what other people may think.

my 23rd post was a post concerning the parables of Jesus. i had been listening to rob bell's sermons that i got from his church's web site, and they made me think of the parables of Jesus, and how He took everyday situations and used them to teach about amazing things concerning His Father and His love for us:

you may be wondering why i have been stuck on writing about the parables of Jesus the last few posts, but i like how He took an everyday situation and used to teach.

well, i'm not a great teacher. my daughter, God love her, tells me that she really enjoys my classes "even though nobody else listens." well, then i think i have done my job. if she grows up and shares what she gets out of the lessons later on in life, or if she applies those lessons to her life, then i will be totally pleased.

i was "tagged" for this little adventure that i am doing by one of the greatest teachers of my time. i am glad to call him, and be called by him, as friend. thanks greg.

My 23rd post was "Home Again" and was about our return from a weekend vacation to Biloxi (prior to Hurricane Katrina). My fifth sentence was:

When we were backing out of the condo parking lot in Biloxi and Wren says, "Thanks, Dad, for taking me to this place."

Ever since Hurricane Katrina, I've wondered about the irony of our traveling to this place (a rather random, last-minute decision). Was it so the tradegy would be made real for me? Was it so I would appreciate more what I have -- my family, my home, etc.?

Whatever the reasons, I'm just now starting to process these thoughts. And I, like Wren, turn to my Father and say, "Thank you for taking me to this place."
